I'm 42 years old and I'm a graphic designer living and working in Aveiro, Portugal. In 2009 I felt the need to change my life, and I decided to follow my real passion, photography, and become a photographer.
My photographic technical skills were developed over the last two decades, between self-learning and photo workshops. But photography is much more than technique. And as I felt the need to further develop my visual skills, I realised that I needed to choose more specific workshops, which allowed me to face the challenge of discovering and showing myself through the images that I capture.
At the same time, as the need for change evolved, so did the photographic focus shifted towards the more challenging field of social photography.
The result of this challenge is expressed in four photographic stories that I created between 2009 and 2011. The first two of them, "In close proximity" and "Twilight life", were developed in Vietnam, and the other two, "Fighting for a future" and "The last bolero", were developed in Cuba.
