http://www.theportfolioproject.org/guests/mela/thefaith My first touch with art was via theatre and I was studying in the Wrocław Theatre Academy 1991 – 1995. In 1996 – 2002 I collaborated as an actress with Warsaw theatres like Dramatyczny, Narodowy, Scena Prezentacje and Na Woli. After that I was expressing my sensitivity by the language of film. I was an actress but I was also present at the other side of the camera; in 1998 I was an assistant director in the Television Theatre “Enigmatic Variations” directed by Mariusz Front. I have been also co-author of screenplays and adaptations. Besides leading role, I was co-director of photography and co-author of screenplay in movie called “Double Portrait” by Mariusz Front in 2001. I received Actor's award for “Double Portrait” at the Koszalin Film Festival 2001. In 2001 I studied in the Developing Countries Institute at the Warsaw University. During my 4-year film journey in Asia I started to make pictures and discovered that this actualization is the closest to me. When I returned to Poland, I decided to deepen my knowledge of the subject in the European Academy of Photography in Warsaw. The school taught me how to express myself better with photography; it encouraged me to new projects and made me realize that there is a way everywhere. I got a lot benefit from the workshops with such personalities like Alex Majoli, Tomek Sikora, Jan Grarup and Michael Ackerman. I work as a freelance photographer and until now I have had publications in such Polish magazines like Zwierciadło, Foto, Rzeczpospolita, Przekrój, Newsweek, Film, National Geographic and international releases like PhotoArt Magazine, Photoicon, Silvershotz, Eyemazing, Zoom and The Guardian. I have been rewarded with 1st and 3rd prize in 2007 Press Photo BGZ competition, redline in Zwierciadło magazine - Look into Yourself Competition, redline in Ways International Photo Competition, 4 honorable mentions at 2007 International Photo Awards, 1th and 3th prize in Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris 2008. I was also one of 2007 Critical Mass finalists. In October 2007 I had an individual exhibition entitled as “Appointment. Mirror Crumb” , organised by Batory Foundation in Warsaw. In July 2008 one of my projects called “Between” was exhibited on International Photo Festival Ghar al Melah in Tunisia. In 2008 I moved to London and started to work with the Guardian and Newsweek Polska. My first exhibition in London was in Atrium Gallery. In December 2008 Silvershotz Magazine published my portfolio in “Folio 2008”. In December 2009 I had an exhibition "From the Barber's life" in Soho and portfolio in RPC Journal. I was one of Renaissance 2010 Winners and in May 2010 I had a portfolio in Zoom Magazine.
